This State of Mind
This State of Mind
Just a beach song, a simple beach song
Sand and Sea and Sun
A cheap folding chair, crisp ocean air
Not a care in the world, not one
Girls barely dressed, cold beer in the chest
I leave the world behind
I don't wanna, I don't wanna, I don't wanna lose this state of mind
Wave are crashing, cresting, splashing
To the rhythm of the sea
I sit here baking, drinking, wasting
There’s no where I need to be
No watch, no cell, just the sea and the shells
As I leave the world behind
I don't wanna, I don't wanna, I don't wanna lose this state of mind
I find my peace on the beach by the water
Just west of old Tampa Bay
Sail boats grace the horizon
Hell, I could watch them all day
It's getting late, I haven't ate
I'll stumble to Crabby Bills
Maybe some snow crab or pile of stone crab
with shrimp, hot off the grill
One more beer, god I love it here
Where I can leave the world behind
I don't wanna, I don't wanna, I don't wanna lose this state of mind
I find my peace on the beach by the water
Just west of old Tampa Bay
Sail boats grace the horizon
Hell, I could watch them all day
Just a beach song, a simple beach song
I don't wanna, I don't wanna, I don't wanna lose this state of mind
No don't wanna, I don't wanna, I don't wanna lose this state of mind

Written in 2009 on Indian Rocks Beach, the gulf side of Florida. We were staying in a condo on the beach across from my favorite restaurant Cabby Bills. It’s open air bar “The Loading Dock” is pictured above. Ummm Crabby Bills, makes my mouth water!
